lactation energy bites

i go back to work in a few days and i’m planning on pumping breastmilk for lucy to have while she’s at the montessori school with claire. side note — did you know that in most states, it’s your right to take reasonable pump breaks at work until your baby turns one? and – most insurance companies will cover the cost of a breastpump, and might cover the cost of new supplies every month for the first year?? i used aeroflow to work with my insurance to get the medela pump in style advanced pump. i can’t say enough good things about them!!

my pump schedule at work will be to pump for 20 minutes at 8:45, 11:30 and 2:30. i always pump through the first let down, take a five minute break, and then start again. this was really successful when i was pumping when claire was under one – i was able to have enough milk to feed her and also donate nearly 1000 ounces that i had pumped!

no bake lactation energy bites

ingredients:
– 2 c oats (i used instant but old-fashioned would be good too!)
– 1/2 c ground flaxseed
– 4 T brewer’s yeast (you can get this at your local healthstore but i ordered on amazon)
– 1 c nut butter
– 1/4 c honey
– 1/4 c mini chocolate chips

combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in your stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. if the mixture isn’t sticking together well, add more nut butter. then, mix in the chocolate chips. roll them into 1 inch size balls and refrigerate until you’re ready to eat them.
